I've just bought LR6. Like many others I didn''t want to sign up to the Creative Cloud (CC) ..it's £9.98.a month. On the box from Amazon, it has written Lightroom6.

I'm aware that it's now on version LR6.1.2 I've spent a great deal of time, (a) trying to ascertain if I do have LR6 or LR6.1.2. and (b) how to update. I assume it's the original and they expect the purchaser to update it. I think it's reasonable to assume that the version Adobe are now shipping is bug-free. Adobe apologised for the bug and said it should not have been released until it was sorted. Having said it's currently version 6.1.2 I see here it was 6.2 https://www.dpreview.com/articles/9338796360/adobe-issues-lightroom-6-2-apology-and-

I've I've taken a few photos with my 7D11 and they imported ok so I assume my DVD version is ok. At least it does what I bought it for..to import 7D11 photos. My LR4 wouldn't do that. LR5 will also import from a 7D11. I had a problem with the grad tool too and I don't have that with LR6.

March 29 2017..6.1 https://photographylife.com/adobe-adds-more-features-to-cc-except-for-standalone-lr-6

What I'm hoping is that someone may be able to tell me how I can check what version I have and how to update. I've really tried every avenue and hit a brick wall. During my searches I read that Adobe were making it deliberately difficult, they want people to sign up to CC which begs the question why make a DVD stand alone version then ?' I also read that most likely there won't be a LR7. From now on it's CC only.

check the version bu going to the Help menu then About Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6.xx
I have version 6.12

Shouldn't be difficult

Open Lightroom and there is help tab on the top.

Click on system info and it will tell you what version is installed
Click on update and it should offer you to update

PS1: I think you need a adobe password
PS2: I think last time i did it, it only offer an update called "CC" but that was in fact updating my standalone copy as well as if i had a cc
PS3: I think it's the same as CC installed on the laptop but some new feature such as dehaze are deactivated
PS4: I think there a sort of workaround to get dehazed but i couldn't be bother to look into it

Lol, reading your post made me check my lightroom which wasn't updated.
So has i said in PS2, even if you have a standalone version like i do, the update is called LRCC 6.12, but don't worry just go for it you'll still run a standalone version after you've done it!

Thanks Ian. I did that ,definitely with LR open and when I went into that Help tab ..the last tab along the top.. all I got was how to update my iMac. On that note iMac will alert me to any application updates and of course it hasn't.

The post below by Thomas looks promising. I had to chuckle with his opening line. "It shouldn't be difficult" Lol Here's hoping. I'm going to try now.

Thanks Thomas.

1. That worked.ie. Help box.Why didn't it work for me ? However,I wouldn't have known what to click on in that list…System info. It's showing Lightroom6 at the top.

Job done, many thanks, much appreciated.

As a way of saying thank you here's the link re. the Dehaze tool http://owenbillcliffe.co.uk/lightroom-6-1-standalone-dehaze/

Just when you think everything is ok..my iMac won't open LR. It should do. I've googled it. Oh dear me. LR6 will work with it (10.8.5) but it needs 10.9 or 10.10 for LR 6.1.2

This is getting expensive. I have a Canon 1D1V which I'm very happy with. My wife heard me mention the 7D11. It has a crop of 1.6X,the 1D1V has a crop of 1.6. I'd get 168mm more reach and of course the latest CMOS sensor. I only mentioned it in passing. Next thing is she gets me one. I take some shots and try to download them. The 7D11 will not work with my LR4 so I had to buy LR6. £103. Now I have to buy a £1750 27" iMac. We were going to do that anyway and my wife will have this 24" 10.8.5. Looks like a trip to Apple at Cribbs Causeway..Bristol is in the offing.

I also had to buy a new backup hard drive 'MY Passport.£58. I did that yesterday and the new iMac doesn't have the DVD slot,it needs a superdrive. £70. Of course you know what will happen now ?

I will install the LR6 disc into the new computer and update it.However, all my LR3 and LR4 photos are now locked in this current computer. You only get two installations with a purchase.I've used one just now..I was going to use the other on the new computer. I can't access my photos so it looks like I'll have to buy another LR6 and install it on this computer.

Is all this an ..Ugh or a..Lol.

It has to be the most expensive 7D11 in the land. Total cost,in reality... £3172. Yikes. :crying:

If anyone reading this sorry tale can offer a solution ie.(how to get my LR3 &4 back) I'd be most grateful..otherwise, all monetary contributions welcome. BT will be fine..:D

You could have actually upgraded LR4 to LR6 on the Adobe website for £64.66
You can install the latest version of OSX on your Mac for FREE.

Oh,thanks. I'll take a look at that. ie. the iMac.

There were two issues I had with LR4. One with the grad filter..I had to turn it 360 degrees in the area I'd selected or the whole photo was affected. Some other issue, I've forgotten what is is so I don't regret getting LR6..maybe the upgrade would have sorted it.
I'll get googling the Mac upgrade..:)
