Lightroom4

That's for the upgrade edition. The full version is showing as £89, which is still a great price for a fantastic bit of kit.

Ooops! Should have read that a bit closer!

Apologies for the misleading thread title, I can't edit it as I'm on my iPhone.

I just installed 4.3 yesterday and it runs like garbage compared to 3.6. Big delays on most stuff, it can't even pan around an image in the Develop module at 100% without it taking a little while to properly draw the new bit of the image (this with a 1:1 preview already rendered).

From Googling it there's a big software issue (i.e. it's Adobe's fault) and even people with brand new eight core systems and 32GB of RAM have had trouble with it. I haven't decided if I can live with it or not yet because I haven't moved my catalogue over or tried to go through any images properly (just playing with it a the moment) but there are people who've had to go back to using 3.6 because of how much longer it's taking them to do anything.

Point being try the trial version before you get excited over the price and buy it.

Big thread about it on the Adobe forums here.

Regarding LR 4 performance, I'm running 4.2 (didn't realise 4.3 was out yet!) and it runs fine on my 3-year-old MacPro. I think its a case of Your Mileage May Vary, and it depends on lots of factors like the size of the catalogue, system hardware, etc. Like Darren says, try the trial version first before upgrading.

Cheers,
David

I updated to 4.3 on Friday editing not really a problem but wen I go to print module (am doing a grotto which was run perfectly for this last 3 weekends) it keeps on crashing, I have to now input the page am printing and keep having to select the photo manually ie it doesn't go to the next photo automatically. Don't know if Lightroom are working to fix all problems but is a real pain!!

In print, wen I've selected photo I can't just hit print one as it'll print every photo in the library so I had to manually your the page I wanted to print

Ive recently bought this but not managed to get to grips with Photoshop so was wondering if there was a plug in where i could use a layering type system?

If you mean Lightroom, then no, Lightroom doesn't do layers...

Anthony.

Sorry I worded it poorly. Yes I mean light room. :)
I can't get to grips with photo shop yet so wondered if there was a plug in for lr4.as it happens there is one that allows you to do layers so I will give it a whirl in the week. It's called perfect layers.

Maybe the OP should amend the thread title to something more appropriate :)

Thanks Nil. It seems that is the same company that do the standalone layers plug in so maybe it is just a part of the full software that you have listed. :)

I can add to the thread that at Staples in the UK you have get it for £79.99 online and in store. I bought my copy just this weekend. I've never used Lightroom before but I'm fortunate it seems that 4.3 is running just fine on my Intel 2500k w/ 4GB ram.
