Lightroom v3 Unable to Export

Please help my dad! He's using Windows and Lightroom. He's told me that he's been unable to export pictures to jpeg, after importing them (their original format: RAW)

He says:

This is the steps that I do:

- Click Import Button
- Select drive (drive E)
- Select directory where the pictures are
- pictures showed in the main window (square window)
- the export option (top menu bar) still grayed out
- right click on any picture, there is a sub menu with 2 options: Import photos & Show in Explorer. That is.

You actually have to Import them before you can Export them . In the lower right corner, there is a button marked import....

The photo has to be within the LR catalogue before you can export it.

Thanks! Indeed, my dad did not fully import them (I thought he did).

Hard to diagnose these problems from afar!
