I have found Scott Kelby's book on Lightroom to be invaluable. I was already familiar with Lightroom, albeit self-taught, when I bought it but it has massively improved my workflow. I know others who started from scratch with this, working through it order as if it were a tutorial package.

Adobe TV - free and very good after all, adobe want you to use/buy their product.

Start with the basics, don't worry about the version as you need to get the idea behind the product, how the workflow works, before you get deep into the various sliders etc.
I watched these about 6 months after using Version 1 and wished I'd watched them earlier. It made so much more sense.
