LightRoom Sharpening on Export

Hi

Following on from another thread....

In Lightroom when you export images you have the option to sharpen the image automatically before it's saved. There are 3 settings:

1, None
2, Standard
3, High

What have you guys set yours to? I have mine on High but i can't see the difference between High and Standard.

I don't sharpen on export.
I shoot RAW and sharpen within Lightroom.
If i'm resizing for web i'll export a full size tiff and resize in photoshop so i can sharpen and see the result on the screen.
Probably a long winded way but it works for me

I leave mine set to standard but always pick the right media type.

I don't have Photoshop on my Mac (yet!) i use the gimp instead which seems to be ok. I have never noticed a drop in image quality after saving a file.

I'll give the gimp a try using full size Tiff's.

Do you sharpen AFTER re size or before?

Oh and what resolution do you save as? Mines set at 240dpi at the mo.

I sharpen my RAW's in lightroom. But after i resize for flickr or something i also sharpen slightly again as the downsizing will soften the image.
For web i save as 72dpi to keep file size down and loading speeds up

72dpi or 30,000dpi means nothing for web and won't affect the quality at all - it's the pixel dimensions and compression that are important.

Screen and standard here.

Even if the full size jpegs I'm exporting will be uploaded for online printing I still leave it on 'screen' as places like bonusprint seem to sharpen again in any case. Plus the jpegs are right for on screen viewing by anyone that wants to see them.

Don't sharpen on export. I'm more of an OCD man, send as huge tiffs to photoshop, and do my resizing / bordering / tagging and sharpening there
