Lightroom printing.

I usually prepare my images in Lightroom then export to Photoshop to print the file and so far I have been pretty happy with my results.

However the other day I thought i'd try printing from Lightroom as I really like the print module and figured it would save me a lot of time getting images ready for print.

Anyway I used the same profiles, paper etc as I do in Photoshop but for some reason the prints made in Lightroom contained way too much red in them:thinking:

Anyone else fond this?

Anyway i did a few more prints where I reduced the red saturation by -15 and this seemed to be the way round the problem (just need to make sure I do this on every print:|)

Anyway in terms of print quality and sharpness the prints out of Lightroom looked stunning and much sharper than those I was previously getting from photoshop.

Make sure your settings are set to how you want them printing, i.e. do you let LR/Photoshop manage colours or the printer?
 
I'd agree with Tom. I'd also double check the settings in the printer dialogue box. In Lightroom each print template can contain it's own settings which can override what setting you have set on the left hand pane in the print module . It's caught me out one or twice ( or even more !)
 
Can you try something.

In Photoshop can you go to the proof set-up ( it's under View ) Select custom and choose your paper/printer profile. Now select from the view menu" proof colours". Do you see a change to the image similar to the result you are getting from Lightroom

I already do all that, and like I say I am happy with the colour coming from photoshop prints.

Its just lightroom seems to add more red to the files, but the prints appear sharper.
 
Looks like you are soft proofing in Photoshop. Lightroom doesn't have a soft proof option. It's something a lot of users are after. It was hoped it would be in LR3 but it's not. So you are seeing the unproofed version in Lightroom. I agree the print module in Lightroom is very good, however without the option to soft proof I take all my critical work into Photoshop and soft proof there. It's a shame as the multiple image options are excellent.

I'm not sure it is a lack of soft proofing in Lightroom. Because if this was the problem, why is the same image printing with less red in Photoshop:thinking:
 
I don't know your printer but does it have separate coloured ink?
 
Any chance the red one is empty or clogged?

Just fishing for clues............
