Lightroom Presets

I dont know if anyone can help and im sure its so so simple... i was just wondering how you select a preset to see what it looks like without actually applying it on the image, or if you have to apply it but dont like it how do i deselect it without having to make the whole image go back to the original? Thanks

Hi Lewis,

You could simply create a virtual copy and apply the preset to the copy, then tweak or delete the copy to suit. Also, make sure the Navigator preview is turned on (upper left in Develop mode) and as you hover over the preset name you'll see what the preset will look like if applied.

Ctrl + z to undo or scroll down on the left hand side and you will see all of the history and state changes to the image. Just click the state you want to return to.

If you hover over a preset it will show in the preview (top left), but it's pretty useless so is best to just apply the preset and see what you think.
