Or any other suggestions...;)

My Pro arrives next week and apart from my ipad, I haven't used a Mac before, so any tips gratefully received:naughty:

If you are going the Mac way have you had a look at Aperture 3?

Aperture s dead cheap (£44 as a download from the apple store - £197 to buy it physically) and very powerful. I started using it but found I missed the 'Adobeness' of PS so went with LR3 in the end. Both do the same job in reality, as tools that are totally geared towards photography, processing and outputting. I don't know about Aperture, but LR3 doesn't have the ability to do pixel-level editing using miniscule brushes (etc) and doesn't support layers in the traditional way. It also doesn't support pathing.

For me though, those things rarely matter to me these days, as LR3 is so good as an editing, archiving and exporting tool, much simpler than full PS. Plus it's cheaper than full PS :)

I'd try a 30 day trial of Aperture, as it's so cheap from the App store. ( you'll need to go to the main Apple site for the trial download, you can't do that at the App Store ) Also if you've not tried Lightroom I'd opt for a 30 day trial of that and see what you prefer.

If I didn't already have Photoshop loaded I think I'd opt for Elements to go alongside Lightroom, for pixel editing. Not sure with Lightroom you'd need all the tools in Photoshop CS

As far as using a Mac is concerned, it's no big deal. Some things are slightly different, but it should take you 30 seconds to get the basic hang of it. A day or so to find out most other things.

Check out MacMost for some good tips

Another vote for Aperture. It's extremely cheap and very easy to use.

Although the best thing to do would be to grab some trial versions and see which one you like the most, I guess.

Isn't Aperture £55 now?
