A simple question really. Which do you prefure/use and why?

I'm in a position where I can get either but want to make the right choice. I've'a spanking new 24 inch imac so want to make the most of it by using a package for handling my raw files.

Any help/advice would be ace!

Thanks guys

i use lightroom and really like the layout and features but i have never used aperture so i cant compare.

lightroom do a free trial so u can try it out, if u cant get hold of the trial version let me know via PM

I've used both - on the Mac - and I much prefer Lightroom.

Get the trial version of both and see which you prefer - I did and found I kept coming back to Lightroom, whereas others prefer the way Aperture works and feels. Both are very good and either one is well worth having so it just comes down to personal preference of the way they look and feel.

I seem to be one of a small minority that like aperture. I haven't used lightroom since the last beta version and while that was ok, I prefer the flow of aperture and the ease of firing sets of images off to a .mac gallery.

I should have another play with lightroom as it does seem to be the choice of many more snappers.

I also like it, but I just found it too sluggish to work with compared to Lightroom. I've also now go into the Lightroom workflow and customized its presets quite nicely for B&W. I do hear that Aperture is faster now, but I'm happy with LR.
