Lightroom- Making a better effort with my watermark

I have tried to add my logo onto photos I export in lightroom, I can add the logo in whatever format I want and I have tried using one with a transparent background in the hope that just the text will show up against the image.

The problem is that in reality it adds a semi-transparent background to the back, why is it doing this.

Any tips would be appreciate as all of your watermarks look much better than mine!
 
This sounds like a simple case of setting your transparency at the wrong stage. Screenshots would help though.
