Hope someone can help I am new ish to litghtroom, it would be helpful if it could be persuaded to apply to camera settings (d90 ) ie picture control and wb to the raw files on import, may not be the finish point of the editing but not a bad start point for me anyway.
If it is can someone please tell me how

Thanks, but Not quite what I am looking for it is the in camera setting that I would like to use but I don’t know what the settings are to make a preset

Not familiar with Nikon menu system at all but as a starting point you could look at the settings that are being applied to the jpeg in camera for the 'Picture Style' you have set.

On Canon I have 'sharpness', 'contrast', 'saturation' and 'color tone'. Look at these and try to replicate them in Lightroom. Use a jpeg taken by the camera as a comparison.

I'd be surprised if you could find hard figures to apply to the preset though.

You can't directly. You need to apply a preset. Either make your own or google to see is anyone has made some to emulate the picture styles. Lightroom has a couple of Nikon ones built in, from the d2x, but they are pretty generic.

Hi Paul

Did get a profile for your D90?

Thanks

Surely when importing from your camera if you have shot in jpeg and have it set to vivid or neutral in camera it will import with these settings? If you shoot raw it will come in completely as shot with nothing applied in camera?

I have never had any issues importing in lightroom..

He may be shooting in RAW & JPEG mode, then trying to import the RAW files in Lightroom and apply the settings used to get them to look like the JPEGS, that is the only way i can see what the OP is trying to do

You should be able to find a camera styles preset for nikon, I've seen them a while back, look for the style you like (say vivid) and apply it on import, it should get you pretty close.

As others have said, and provided links for, you really need to create your own presets and profiles. The whole point of RAW is that it DOESN'T apply camera settings... it's raw. The advantage is that you can take full control of that in post process.
