Right guys, you probably all have noticed this and usually I don't mind it... until now!

When you import a shot into Lightroom you see a preview for a few seconds then boom Lightroom does something and the image changes slightly. Before now this was not a problem as it always made the image better etc, however i just got a 60D and things are different, I was shooting the Hebridean Celtic Festival last night and the shots consist of heavy couloured lighting and this 'change' is boosting the saturation/vibrance stacks I think and when toning it down it just doesn't have the same effect...

Is there a way to stop this from happening? Here is a link to an image that is un-edited apart from sharpning and lens correction, check out the old blones hair!

The first one that flashs up is the camera's embedded jpeg preview then Lightroom gets it's hands on the RAW files and applies it's default RAW processing. As LR doesn't know what processing the camera did for it's preview you can't get that one back but you can adjust the settings yourself to get something similar.
 
Yea I do understand that but when I reduce the saturation I can't get back the detail that was originally in the hair etc... looks naff... looks like I have been boosting the saturation big style. Never had this issue with my old 5D1
 
Are you sure you're not applying an import preset?
 
A quick google suggests that that initial image you see briefly is an embedded jpeg preview before the raw image is then displayed.

Check though that you don't have anything ticked in: Edit/Preferences/Presets
 
Go to camera calibration in develop - what's it saying for profile? Try one of the other modes rather than Adobe standard, which is usually way off the mark.
 
In the develop module, under 'Camera Calibration' you'll see a setting for 'Profile' that's probably set to 'Adobe Standard'. Look for the 'Camera ....' profiles, and pick the one to match the in camera settings (they'll share the same names as the in camera jpg settings. Try a few until you find the one that most closely matched the 'embedded jpg' preview that was flashed up when you loaded the RAW.
