ok strange one this?

wonder if anyone can help when i import my pics into lightroom 3 in jpg format lightroom adds around +25 black to photos this is when i import from my nikon d3 when i import from raw ok also happens on my friends d3 other cameras seem ok am thinking its a setting or colourspace on camera can anyone help please driving me nuts

Maybe you should check what import presets are being used, if any. Sorry I only have LR4 so the window set-up may be different to yours.
When you are in the "Import" window, on right hand side, check what is in the box for "Develop Settings" under "Apply during import". If you don't want any, it should read "None".
