Edit My Images
Yes
Hi I have just installed light room 4.2 it done a scan of my computer and put every image in it even icon images is there a easy what to remove all the window os images

Sounds like you've told lightroom to look at your hdd instead of a specific folder. when I loaded Lr2 (badly behind the times !!!) I had to point it at a location of my images.

I'd be inclined to deactivate it, delete it and reinstall it tbh but this time make sure you tell Lr where you want it to look.

I'm waiting for Lr4 to land on the doorstep after buying it cheap on Amazon on Friday, I can't imagine it being a different process than Lr2 was though.

As above, and if you're unsure exactly where your images may be scattered, pointing LR at your "My Documents" folder will usually do the trick. (And instead of re-installing LR, you can create a new catalogue instead - file/new catalogue - before importing your images).

Or in Catalog, choose All Photographs, select all of them then delete them.

Then reimport them by pointing it at the right directories.

Yes, worth mentioning that if it asks, DO NOT choose "Delete from disk"! (choose the other option).

"Delete from disk" will delete the actual image files from your hard disk (not a good idea as the catalogue will include all of your photos and image files used by the operating system, applications etc.. :gag:), rather than just remove them from the LR catalogue.

Spend a little time grouping all photographs you want to import Lightroom into one folder on your PC before you go anywhere near Lightroom. Then simply import that one and only folder. Will save hours of heartache in the future.

Cheers I will resort
tip dont install a program at 2am in the morning when not fully awake :shake::shake::shake:

As a slight modification to this, I have LR import to a common base location (D:\Photos) but then have it automatically import to a subdirectory based on the image date stamp

So I get

D:\Photos\2012\2012-03-15
\2012-03-18

etc.
making it easy to find files by date outside of LR.

create a new catalog file.
