Can anyone point me in a good direction of a Lightroom guide which will help me grasp the variety of things it can accomplish?

One of the things I found helpful was the presets, lots of places give them away, let's you see what can be done...

Done by a guru of LR and some nice presets given away along with little tips here and there, more for the intermediate level but a good place to know about. Otherwise just do a search for tutorials and you'll have enough to keep you busy for months

Cheers, learning a new program like this daunting, never done any Photoshop in my life, always shot JPEG :(

Lightroom 3 by Scott Kelby. £18 from Amazon

Kelby TV has all the vids without the words, but it's easier to find fnd and select the ones that interest you

Loads of other great vids on there for general photography and photoshop too

thanks for the links. Was playing around with lightroom doing some minor work on Jpegs, going to put some RAW files on and have a deeper play with it.

I really rate the Martin Evening books.

Thanks mate, her information is informative and simple. THink I will spend the best part of tomorrow watching the videos.

I really rate the Martin Evening books.

I've just this very evening received the Martin Evening book and it looks impressive after a quick reconnaisance within. I had a Kelby book for LR2 and I found his style irritating
