Hi all

I usually use my home PC for editing in LR and then LR Mobile on the iPad for culling after a wedding etc.

I have lots of family photos going back a few years that I've neglected and need to work. I'm thinking of doing some on them whilst on holiday, so need to take my laptop with me and then sync the changes later.

What's the easiest way of doing this?

I was thinking I could copy my whole lightroom catalogue to an external HDD, then create previews for the whole lot and perhaps overwrite the catalogue once the holiday is finished. Only trouble with that is I do quite a bit of HDR work so would need the raw files to process them.

I guess another approach would be to export some of the key folders as separate catalogues and then re-import later - would that work?

All suggestions appreciated!

Thanks

Phil

I would suggest just creating smart previews then syncing upon return. You won't be able to do this with the HDR shots I believe, but maybe just edit those when you get back. Are there lots of HDR shots among these family photos?

There are quite a few HDRs - I've decided to backup the whole of my raws and catalogue onto a usb drive!

I thought you said you were going on holiday.
Fair enough if you are on your own, but with family?

Yeah - everyone else goes to bed earlier than me so I can spend an hour or two editing in the evenings
