Yes
How can I stop it. I've tried in 'computer' under card & I've looked in lightroom, but everytime I insert the card Lightroom comes one.

I use Lightroom to transfer files from the card reader to the computer so I'm happy that it is the default action. If you normally use Lightroom for that too but just sometime don't want it - hold the shift key whilst inserting the card and keep it held long enough to stop Lightroom starting up. (shift key thing works on inserted CDs too).

If you never want Lightroom to start up then you need to change the default action in windows.... which I can't remember where to find but I'm sure someone will :)

look for autoplay options in the control panel the rest should be straight forward

my tip was for vista and works for you too pippy

I'd be interested the other way - I want LR to automatically import rather than using the standard Canon Utilities software...

In Library >edit menu>preferences> import - there is a checkbox for automatic import dialog ... which I guess may answer the original question too :)

Thanks for that Robert, found that now. (On PC it is Edit/Preferences/Import). The tickbox is only for when memory card detected - I usually just plug my camera in via the mini usb lead which I guess it's not set up for? Oh well, it's not the end of the world.

There was a bug in v2.4 that switched the checkbox on every time you started LR. This was fixed in v2.5 - so it may be worthwhile checking and updating.

Thanks for the help. I have unticked it & will see what happens next time I put a card in.

That explains why it didn't happen before.
