lightroom catalog and harddrive recovery

Hi there,

My motherboard went on my pc the other day, bought and fitted a new one, but due to this, ive got to reinstall windows 7, as a recovery isn't working.

I've got a main hard drive (with C: and windows on it), and ive got another seperate drive (P with all my photos on.

Just burning knoppix recovery dvd so i can recover the files(im going to back these up onto an external disk before i do anything just incase), but should everything work as expected, bearing in mind its C: thats getting messed with, and P has the files(and the catalog)?

I don't want to lose my images

I'd have thought you will be fine, especially if you make sure and keep the directory structure of your Lightroom preferences the same. Doing that and Lightroom won't even notice the blip.

The backing up part is good though. I wouldn't do anything without it. Backup and verify, always.

yeah that's what i'm thinking, potentially, the P: drive isn't changing at all, so fingers crossed it'l be ok, its just worrying with thousands and thousands of pictures I could lose
