Hello,

I am working with DNG files from within Lightroom, and would like to make edits in Photoshop. When i save the files in Photoshop they come back as PSD files, so i then have a duplicate file in Lightroom, is there anyway to re-save as the original DNG file?

thanks

Nope. DNG is a RAW file, and in order to export it to PS LR converts/develops it into a PSD/Tiff depending on which settings you've chosen. Btw if you use IPTC or Keywording the Tiff is a better option for export.

Unless you have some very specific reasons for reimporting to LR, such as a batch export, watermarking or cataloguing, you may be better off saving as a Jpeg directly from PS, unless you want to keep your editing intact of course.

would like to have all photos in Lightroom as part of a cataloguing, but thats the only reason really.

Will have a play tonight and see what works best for me.

cheers

When I export an image for editing I usually stack the original and the PSD/Tiff, so you only see one image.
