Lightroom 7 - "will appear later this year".

All sitting there, in my CC program, waiting to be updated. Press update now or wait for a while?
If you’ve not already... probably a good idea to make a backup of your Lightroom catalogue first.

What these people are saying if you want the good stuff then Pay over £100 month in month out for good or stuff you. So I say stuff dobe and get something else :) I am happy I left them ages ago.

any quicker ? see the new lightroom CC is only giving 1TB cloud storage for £20 a month ?! if you want 10tb its over £100 - they are having a laugh?!
I agree... I don’t mind subscription for software, but want to control my own storage!

my current plan is £10.10 a month - plan is showing 25% off for a year @ £15 a month for 1tb (lightroom&photoshop) rising to £20 next year, 2TB is £29 5tb £59.93?!

In other words £10 per TB per month. Or £120 per TB per year.

About typical for cloud storage... similar to Google Drive and Apple iCloud.

So to keep Lightroom locally installed (classic) when my current photography plan runs out, the price goes up to £20 per month?

No, still £10 per month - it's £20 if you want the extended 1Tb Cloud Storage option

Strange... (on macOS) I can download Lightroom Classic, but no option for Lightroom CC download.

But they might be what we would call sneaky and they would call commercial.
They could price LR at just under £10 and increase the price of CC to £15/20. Now they've got a lot of folk tied in they could consider it good business.
Remember they only care about the bottom line.

As Butch Cassidy once said "I got vision and the rest of the world wears bifocals".

It's a serious price hike. IRO 100%. Some serious thinking to be done.

The only thing I need from Lightroom is some speed. The features are fine it just runs like a dog!
It's not bad on a really fast machine, but I built a £2k specialised machine just for Lightroom and photoshop.

No More Standalone Lightroom
Adobe is also announcing that Lightroom 6 will be the last standalone version of Lightroom that you can purchase once and use forever. There won’t be any Lightroom 7, and if you’d like to use the latest and greatest Lightroom updates and features, you’ll need to start paying regular subscriptions (just like with Photoshop CC). Lightroom 6 will no longer be updated after 2017, so you’ll find that newer cameras of the future will not be supported.

Pricing and Availability
Adobe Lightroom CC and Classic CC are now available through 3 different photo-oriented subscription plans. The Creative Cloud Photography Plan includes both of them, Photoshop, and 20GB of storage for $10 a month. If you only need Lightroom CC and storage, you can subscribe to Lightroom CC and 1TB of storage for the same $10 a month. For all photo apps and 1TB of storage, you’ll need to pay $20 a month.

So I pay €12.29 a month and I get 1TB of storage but while I am paying €61.49 a month for the suite I only get 100GB, because that makes sense

Sorry but you are misrepresenting Adobe here. There is no price rise, £10 still gets you Lightroom, Photoshop and 20GB cloud storage. If you want 1TB clouds storage yes it’s an additional £10... but £10 is what 1TB cost you with other cloud storage companies.

As long as the subscription model for LR stays roughly the same as I’m paying now - £9.99 per month for LR and PS - then I’m happy. I don’t want to back up anything to the cloud, where I’m not in control of where in the world my data is.

At least they should update it to include the new Fuji X-E3, can see me keeping LR6 for quite a while.
Went straight from LR3 mainly because I couldn't be bothered messing about with the RAW converter when I got a new camera.

Wonder how long they will carry on selling the standalone product?

I was thinking I might upgrade from LR5 but too bad, I guess I'll keep my money. I thought they had said, way back when cc came into existence, that they would keep both LR and Elements available as standalones, must have been mistaken.

Is LR6 worth the upgrade from 5?

That is not actually an announcement from Adobe. Have Adobe announced that Lightroom standalone is to stop? I have looked at Adobe's website and cannot see where they say that there will be no more standalone.
Apparently they will continue to develop v6 for a while and that's it.

Or at least that is my understanding....

I am a relative newcomer to both DSLR Photography and Lightroom (2years) and I’m not quite sure why the mood seems to be on the negative side.

Unless I am reading wrong there are the choices of using it as it now is for the same money albeit under the “classic” name, upgrading to the new “cc” version for more money but with extra features and more storage or stripping out photoshop and getting Lightroom only.

Surely having these choices can only be a good move and let’s be honest Adobe are the market leaders of very good products so they are in the driving seat.

Personally I am happy to pay a small premium for a quality product despite being on a very modest wage.

No, this is a signal they're killing off standalone altogether. The new 'Classic' will also be tied to a subscription, though it will still save files locally. There'll be no standalone LR7, 'Classic' or otherwise. LR6 will hang around for a while and receive raw format updates like CS6 did, but will almost certainly share the same fate.

Just reading elsewhere that uploading images to their cloud is unavoidable. Not sure if that is true or not but that would be a strange move. Images could be of any subject matter/sensitive/security/private etc. I was on the 9 quid a month photographers LR/PS package, not worked out how I am affected yet.

'Lightroom 6 is the last standalone version of Lightroom that can be purchased outside of a Creative Cloud membership. There will not be a Lightroom 7 perpetual offering. Lightroom 6 will remain for sale for an undetermined amount of time, but will no longer be updated with camera support or bug fixes after the end of 2017. Lightroom 6.13 with support for the Nikon D850 will be released on October 26, 2017.'

Yes I would agree BUT is this their answer to stop the thousands if not millions of pirated copies of photoshop etc being used ??
