I got a bit ahead of myself when I read that the developers had announced a March 2015 launch date for LR6.

Having bought LR5 two days previously, my application for a complimentary upgrade:

was rejected. Sadly.

Where did you see that LR 6 was being released in March?
All I see on the subject are rumours.

You can hardly expect an upgrade to something that doesn't exist yet.
When it is available you can upgrade from a previous edition at about half the price of buying the full program.
