Having upgraded my monitor to 4 k Lightroom 3.6 is unusable as the menu items are far too small. I have downloaded Lightroom CC trial and it's fine but I'm really not sure I want to subscribe. So the question is will Lightroom 6 display properly on a 4k monitor?

Anyone have any thoughts on whether to subscribe or not?

First I have no idea if LR 6 will display on a 4k monitor but for the price of a cup of coffee a week I get the latest version regularly updated of LR, PS, Bridge and the adobe help desk so I think the subscription is worth the money.

Always amazes me that many are happy to spend thousands on camera gear but for a cup of coffee a week don't want to shell out for the software to process and use that gear.

Lightroom CC itself I just cannot get on with: But Lightroom Classic which is part of the subscription is like a modern verion of whatever you're already used to. I pay for it, and personally, I think its worth it. PS also included, although its only used once in a blue moon. Still, nice to have. Always get the latest updates, some cloud storage too which is handy.

I'm a 6 user but don't have a 4K monitor.

A quick google suggests it will work but you might want to look at the Windows scaling options before you do anything else... assuming you're on Windows.
I imagine Mac has similar options but don't own one.

Why not download the standalone version of lightroom 6 - you get 30 days use free - and try it

Yes I would download 6 if I could its not available as far as I could see on the Adobe site as they have moved to subscription only. I am by religion a devout skinflint, but yes to be fair £10 a month is good value. I have already bought affinity and only really want lightroom for batch processing.

Hi Dave. I use stand alone Lightroom 6 with a 4k display from a Windows 10 machine, works a treat. Within Windows you alter the size/scale of the toolbars using the Scaling (mine's set to 150% for example). As @AMcUK suggests, you might be better to start there and see if your existing version can be made to work better before changing version of Lightroom. Best of luck!
