I'm not sure if this is an error on my system but all of a sudden I am having file errors in Lightroom 6 after moving them within LR.

Some are repairable using a app called fix corrupt nef but only for a few Nikon models (D80 images didn't recover).

Is any one else having the problem?

Peter,

When you say 'file errors' can you expand a little?

Also can you explain what you mean by 'moving them within LR?

Were you using LR previously?

I was using LR5.7 on win 7 x64, now LR6.1 standalone on win 10.

By moving I mean dragging them to a new location within LR to a new location (either locally or to a NAS - errors happen to both locations).

The files show a black exclamation mark in grid view. The error (when opening for development or by clicking the exclamation mark) Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo. you will not be able to make adjustments to this photo.

Photoshop CC gives an error of could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered.

DXO10 trial opens the file but the file is corrupted i.e. black band at bottom of the screen. After DXO does its job and exported as DNG the images can be opened by LR & PS

It sounds like you have moved the files and lightroom doesn't know where to look for them. I remember I had to relink photo locations when I moved from a PC to a mac. The lightroom catalog I transferred to the mac was setup to know where to look for the photos on the old PC. I had to go through all folders/images to relink them to their new locations on the mac hardrive.

This may be of help in explaining it further:

I remember making two new copies of image data to use as backups before I started the transfer just in case anything went wrong.

Thanks @rob-nikon but this isn't the case. I know what you were think because the of exclamation mark next to a folder when this happens.
In this case even if I remove and then try to re-import the image or directly open it in PS the error occurs.

I'd guess that this is an operating system problem - Or rather an incompatibility between Lightroom and the OS - Perhaps where the EOF marker gets misplaced? I assume you're using the official Insider Program version? If I were you and wished to persist with Win10 I'd move the images in the OS and then re-link or synchronise folders in Lightroom.

Personally I wouldn't risk my images on Windows 10 until it had been released and in use for a while.

You're having a lot of problems lately.... I think it's time you got rid of that tech preview of Windows 10 as your OS and put Windows 7 or 8 back on.

Just wait for official release... it's not worth the hassle otherwise.
