I currently have Lightroom 4 is it worth the upgrade? Or should I wait until maybe 6 when there are more new or improved parts?
 
Combine it with the Nik software suite and you have a very powerful set of developing tools.
 
Hi, Really up to you to decide if you need to up-grade. Have a look at http://www.jkost.com/lightroom.html to see the improvements that have been made.
I now use Lightroom 5 and not a lot of Photoshop, if you need something to go along with Lightroom I would suggest PSE or the OnOne suite both have layers option and PSE is a lot cheaper than Photoshop CS
 
I had LR4 & found it worked fine but then went to LR5 which was laggy so went from 4gb RAM to 8gb & this made a huge improvement.

So now happy with LR5 90% of time & the rest of the time PE10, Picasa for some things & a free CS2.

Thanks everyone. I really like version 4 so I might think about upgrading to v5. I have a pretty good spec comp so it should be fine to cope with it.
 
buy sensibly - LR5 is being bundled with some cameras - e.g. 6D, and many owners already have LR5 so flog off the legit copy at below retail price. LR4 also has a value, so you can upgrade legally for £ 20 or so.
