hi all - wondering if you could help. All of a sudden during the week, LR5 won't import files from my SC cards, hard drive etc - if I try, the error says "the following files were not imported because they could not be read. (1)".

If I open up LR4 everything works fine.

Haven't tried formatting the cards as I couldn't get an import from the hard drive either in 5.

Any ideas please?

Thanks for the link. I'm still a little at a loss of what I'm meant to do. Change the name once in the settings or is there something that can be downloaded that fixes it? I'm on a MacBook.

Probably the simplest thing to try is delete or rename the plist file. On OSX that would be

/Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist

so for example if your username on your MacBook is Canon600D then the file is at /Users/Canon600D/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist

By default the Library folder is hidden, so according to the Apple website you'd press Option and choose Go > Library in the Finder. (I've got my 'hidden' folders permanently set to visible to avoid that hassle)

Does that help?

This is the part of Macs that I just detest! Doing something simple like this is just so frustrating. Option key is doing nothing, tried finding this file in the finder, spotlight, nothing is working right. Thanks for your help though, it's not you, it's me!
