Edit My Images
Yes
Guys after a shoot I import my images to lightroom but what I don't get is that all my images are all over the place like some of the last shots are in the middle some of the first shots are at the back I have I missed somthing or is it a camera setting uv knocked or somthing

It might be filing them by image size instead of file name or date...

I'm subscribing to this thread, because the same thing happens to me!
I'd love to know how to stop it happening.

mmmm I'll look into that when I get home any other suggestions

Library > View > Sort > options (eg capture time, file name, etc).

Sort images by date should fix it.

What happens if you change to sort by (say) filename? Does it actually do that or is the order still semi-random?

I'm wondering if for some reason, your camera(s) are doing funny things with how the date system is set or dates recorded in the image data.

Haven't tried that, and don't have any shots on a card at present. It's a random thing and doesn't do it every time which makes it all the more confusing.
Only happens when importing from a card, not from an existing folder.

Try giving each camera a unique file prefix if you can. This may help ,or at least allow you to identify if its one particular camera Also in the import module make sure you've got "Import: by capture time " set. It's tight at the bottom 3/4 way from the right. If this works , save it as a preset, and ensure you use this each time you import. Just in case it resets to default. You can also add copyright info to this preset as well

If you have "Sort by Capture Time" selected then it should not be necessary to modify the filename, they should automatically display in chronological order.

I also keep a separate folder for each of my cameras, divided into year sub-folders.

Brian.

Yes you are right, I just do this to identify which camera took which picture . Your systems works fine

could turning the camera off while changing lenses make a difference do you think

Bottom right of the centre panel on the import screen is an up/down arrow with a "sort filter", change that to Capture Time.

ok when i next import images to lightroom ill try this

You can sort your images at any time.

Press G to go to the grid. select VIEW>SORT>CAPTURE TIME

All your images will be in order.

It is recommended practice, although I must admit I have forgotten to switch off quite a few times when I've been changing lenses.
It will have no effect on the file numbering or exif information.

:agree: especially if you are renaming files on import as otherwise the new file names will not match the capture time.

The rename should do it in your original order though.
