Lightroom 5 confusion?

Firstly, I've only just installed the above program and only just started to find my way around! I've just tried to go back to re work some raw files but on opening in the develop module all editing fuctions are greyed out?

I think I can import files I haven't yet worked on the problem seems to be with files Ive previously edited?

I'm completely confused and haven't a clue what I'm doing wrong???

Maybe I've clicked on something I shouldn't have?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Have you added the files, you're working on, to the LR catalogue?

failing that, are the files available and not 'missing'

All the files are showing in the lightroom catalogue, I can view them just can't do anything with them?

The files are on my laptops hard drive so shouldn't be offline.

Just noticed there is a missing file icon top right of the thumbnail when viewing the file in the library module, I can work on two of the images but the rest are stated as being missing????

Thanks, I think I was trying to work on an image I deleted from my hard drive last night but they were still showing in the library module!

I will go and bang my head against the wall now:bonk:

Make sure, if you're deleting or moving images, you do it via the LR interface. Otherwise all hell breaks loose

Thanks, this program doesn't seem to be as forgiving as Elements re human error!!

Will read up a bit more!!
