Yes
I can use the essentials of LR4 but have not really delved into the detail - I have now upgraded to LR5 and think it is now time to get a book - mainly to understand the editing features, I am Ok with importing, exporting, basic slider adjustments?

Any ideas anyone please - websites or books - that YOU have found useful.

Thanks, Mel

Two favourites are either Martin Evening or Scott Kelby. Slightly different style of writing but both good I. Their own style.

Thanks - I have the Martin Evening book for LR3 but found it toooo long and difficult to find what I wanted.

I will look at some of websites later.

Ta, Mel

Scott Kelly for me too.

Hi, Nothing against Scott Kelby or Martin Evening but why buy what you can find for free?
There are so many tutorials FREE on-line on any subject in Lightroom and also sites dedicated to Lightroom where you can ask for FREE advice.
Have a look at http://www.lightroomforums.net/forum.php

or

http://www.jkost.com/lightroom.html

and

http://laurashoe.com/lightroom-5-tutorials/

also of course there is always Youtube

along with FREE legitimate Ebooks or PDF files available with a search.

I bought both the above authors on Lightroom 2 then Scott Kelby on Lightroom 3 and found a lot of repetition as many features do not change with each upgrade of the program.

Another +1 for Scott Kelby. He also has a new book out - Photoshop for Lightroom users, which looks great, just in case you have access to PS.

I do - I will look at that (CS6 Educational). Thanks, Mel

'Photoshop Lightroom 5' by Sylvan / Coalson (pub: Wiley) is very well-structured and lucid, without unwanted padding.

Couple it with selected Kost videos.

I got LR5 and the Scott Kelby book for Christmas and would not have been able to use the one without the other. Kelby's straightforward approach really helps a first time user like me. A worthwhile investment ...
