Just had an email drop into my inbox from Adobe offering me 40% off Lightroom 5 for one day only!! thats £61.54.
Damn!!!
It's very very tempting, but do i actually need it?
Have photoshop elements 10 which i use a fair bit, and last year i downloaded the free month trial of LR4, but without any instructions i didn't really know what i was doing, or what it could do!
I've got nine hours left to make my mind up!
Any advice? is it better than elements?
Have to admit i usually use Canons DPP for any editing.

It is very different to elements, I use LR as somewhere to manage and process my raw files. It is very easy to sort levels and enhance a whole batch of images. I then use elements or photoshop for heavy manipulation like removing heads etc !

LR is quite easy to get to grips with, lots of tutorials on youtube.

It's good for doing bulk jobs, such as 20 raw files converting to jpegs etc. And a lot more of course if you are an expert which I am not!
If you're only using elements and dpp I wouldnt bother with the expense.:|

I wouldn't be without LR, bought earlier this year, after years of usually upgrading PE but now sticking at version 10.

Since getting LR I use that most of the time but I feel PE is essential for more detailed selection, cloning, layers types of tasks.

Lots of YouTube videos on how to use LR.

If you also want PS, Adobe are doing there Lightroom+PS photo package for £8.73pm until 2nd Dec. They have also according to Kelby dropped the requirement to have a previous version of PS to get this price.

£8.78 per month but you have to sign up for 12 months.

Correct re not having to have previous versions of PS installed.

I am a new convert to Lightroom (Only have version 4 at moment). I used the Canon DPP before.

There is a learning curve with Lightroom and I was immediately put off by the fact you have to import everything into a catalogue. However you can leave the files where they are - you don;t have to duplicate. The editing is non destructive so you can get back to your original image, and when you have finished editing it, you export it so you have a new file. There are lots of tutorials online and I found it was very similar to Adobe Bridge, if you have used that?

I feel it's made a real difference to my photos. I can make them pop more, and I wouldn't be without it now.

Oops - sorry - forgot to press the 'post reply' button - bit late now!
