I've used Lightroom 4 for ages and love it but need the extra tweakability of Elements so downloaded a trial. Some of the tools in Elements get me to convert from 16 bit down to 8 bit like liquefy.
When back in Lightroom it looks pretty much as it does compared side by side with the original file a CR2 vs a tif aside from my tweaks.
What are the implications of this? Am I throwing away a mass of detail/colour/something that would show up in a print or don't worry about it as when you export to jpg it does this anyway.
