Lightroom 4 resize export help

I have a number of files that have been cropped to various sizes. I wantt o export them at a smaller size or resolution fro uploading onto a web page so that if anyone downloads the image they are not a good quality for printing but fine for web viewing.
How do I batch export the files and what setting is best under the resizing option. I guess if I resize long edge to 1000 pixels say the rest of the image will stay at the correct aspect ratio regardless of being portrait or landscape.
I hope this makes sense.

in the export tab, where it says "image sizing" I enter 700 pixels into both boxes. This will produce images that are a maximum of 700 pixels wide or 700 pixels high. the images will retain the aspect ratio you have set

To batch them, just select the images you want to export before you progress to the export dialogue box (control A will select all)
