Lightroom 4 - delete doesn't delete from disk

I've been using LR4 for months now and when I wanted to delete rejected photos in the past with LR4 it used to prompt along the lines of "remove from lightroom or delete from disk" - and I always selected remove from disk.

Now I only have the option to remove from lightroom, and it doesn't remove the file from the disk, just lightroom. I have already reset the warnings in LR preferences to no avail

Searching google hasn't helpded either, any ideas?

thanks

Are you trying to delete from a smart collection? If so, the only option is to remove frome collection. If you right clight on the photo and select "go to folder containing this shot" or some such choice, you can then delete from disc in the usual way.

Hi, no I'm in a collection. Tried in both the library and develop module.
I don't use smart filters.

Lightroom will not let you delete a picture, in a collection, only remove it from the collection.

If you want to delete, go to catalog (in the left hand pane), locate your photo and delete from there.

Yup, as above, delete is just deleting it from the collection :)

If you just highlight the photo(s) you want to delete then click on "All Photographs" in the Catalog section they should remain highlighted and when you click delete should be given the option to delete from disk or just from the cat :)

Hmm ok thanks, will check next time I crank up the machine with LR installed.

Has it always been that way?

I presume I must have just deleted from the collection in the past, damn... hopfully I can just find any images not in a collection and they should be there ready to get binned?

Can anyone tell me if LR4 is worth the upgrade from LR3.
What extras do you get if any.
