I'm looking at upgrading to Lightroom 4 and the download only version is cheaper than the boxed version.

I'm presuming there's no issues preventing me backing up this on to DVD... Or am I wrong?

It's just I'll be replacing my pc soon and don't want to run in to issues with not being able to transfer it to the new one in a month or so.

You could even put a copy on skydrive or similar.

you can just download it again if you need to - assuming you've kept your key for it

As Hugh says, no need to keep a backup copy if you purchase it legally, just store the product key safely.

Downloading the program again when you replace your machine will give you the benefit of installing the latest version from scratch, whereas if you load the saved copy and it has been upgraded, you would still need to download the update.

Don't forget to save the catalogue!!

It's still worth saving the original version, it may not be possible to download older versions in the future, who knows what could happen next week.
