Having tried Elements and Gimp in the past I have always resorted back to Canon's own DPP for PP. I am currently using a trial version of Lightroom and I am certainly more impressed as it appears more user friendly. I am finding I can achieve better results on a small percentage of my pics, by using LR3 rather than DPP. Is this what others find and do they mainly use it as an organiser, or have I got more to discover.
 
I am also using the LR trial; so far i am really enjoying using it.

Its quick to process 100's of images and make quick adjustments and crops.

Makes sorting through pictures so much quicker

Not sure i will be able to do without it after the 30 day trial.
 
Having used DPP, Capture One, and Lightroom, I would say that Lightroom offers the best of all worlds. Some may say that the latest incarnation of capture one produces a better resulty, but as I have not tried it for a while I can't comment.

Lightroom's editing controls are excellent and coupled with a very good images management system, makes it an ideal choice if you have several thousand images to handle Having used it since the first Beta release I'd find it difficult not to have it.

You'll find that as you become more competent with the applications you'll see even more improvements with you images.

I have Lightroom 3 and use this for all my organising and for the majority of my post production. Only rarely do I need to go to Photoshop to work on an image.
 
Go for it!

I find it's the best software for image management AND raw processing, rolled into one its a no brainer.
 
I have LR3 and CS5, I can't seem to get on with LR3 and tend to use CS5 for all my editing using bridge for my organising. I know some people use both, but even after buying Lightroom books I still find CS5 easier to use.
