Does anyone here use the web module in LR and specifically the Flash player template? All seemed fine until I increased the number of shots in the slideshow. Now the slideshow randomly freezes and you have to click pause and then play again to re-start it. I thought it might be related to my ISP but it happens when I run the slideshow locally on the PC as well so any ideas would be gratefully received.
I am running LR 3.2 on 64bit Win 7 PC, Firefox 3.6.8 browser and Flash Player v10.

Bumpety bump!

Am I the only plonker on the forum stupid enough to be using this part of Lightroom?

Hi Donna,
I use the flash gallery too.

Have recently created one for my granddaughter's christening, it includes 114 pictures. And have not had the problem you describe.

How many pictures are you using and what processor and memory does your computer have?
These could be a factor why you are having problems?

Thanks Andrew,

Currently 88 shots, the problem started when I exceeded 50 shots.
Processor is Intel E8400 3Ghz and 4GB memory. The problem also occurs on my Husband's PC (similar spec) but I do not know if happens to everybody as, being an amateur, I don't publicise my work. It's just for friends, family and fellow TP'ers. If you want to have a look for yourself it is here

Hi Donna,
Looked at the slideshow - excellent pictures...

I waited till all the thumbnails had loaded on the left hand side, then started the slideshow.
It played through without any problems.

Your computer specs are more than enough.

And, if the slideshow is viewed from the web, then the internet connection speed is the only other bottleneck for performance.

As long as the pictures are given chance to preload, then it will perform as you want.

Was it reviewing the slideshow locally, from your computer hard drive, or from the internet that was giving you the problem?

Yep, this is important... There are two ways to create the Web, either with 1.) a file set (Using the EXPORT) option, then FTP to your Webserver.

OR

2.) Upload, direct Entering your Server information and let Lightroom connect and upload direct to your Root/Public folder or whatever.

Which one did you do?

Either way, you could export again locally (Option 1) - Make a note of the directory all the photos go to. Then navigate to that directory on your PC and then Open the "index.htm" directly. This will make the slideshow work directly from your PC rather than on the internet.

Because all the files are local, it may work better. If thats the case then more than likely it's your connection to the outside world thats letting you down.

Just reviewed myself and it worked fine.... and I must add the Photos are excellent

Many thanks Andrew & Justin. I export to a local directory then upload using Filezilla but I had the random freezing whether I was viewing locally or from the Web. I have just had independent confirmation that the live web version works fine so it must just be our PC setup at home somehow.
Glad you like the pictures btw.

Pictures are great and it runs fine. Do you have the latest Flash Player installed?

The other thing that could cause random freezing are pc background tasks - virus checker kicking in, resident shield monitoring drive activity, receiving large emails - anything of that nature that demands a little more processing power. Stealing it away from the slide show.

If the freezing does not happen continually for the same slideshow, then its probably just random pc background events that happen as the slideshow is playing.

The folks here have also verified that there is nothing wrong with your slideshow.
