Edit My Images
Yes
Please could someone confirm that the following is correct..?

When i import into LR3, the original file (in this case .nef) remains in the original folder. When I edit the image using 'Develop', the original image remains unedited. When I export the image, the new image (with edits) is exported to the new folder I choose..?

I assume the same is true regardless of the image type..?

TIA

Yes.

Your original image, regardless of type, always remains unchanged. End of.

Not quite....

If you convert to DNG, and then save changes to DNG (or have this set to happen automatically) then the original file is changed.

That's not to say that it doesn't retain the original information allowing you to revert back to the original without loss of detail, but it does update the original file which can play havoc with some automated backups that look for file changes....

Took me weeks to work out why Time Machine was doing backups of tens of GB every hour whilst I was working...
