Still quite new to LR & this is probably a daft qurstion as no doubt its something straight forward, but even though im bald im having a blonde moment!:razz:

Question is how do I stop LR opening up everytime i plug in a memory stick or disc into the drive, I have lots of times when i justy want to look at an image & not import it to LR, so how:shrug:

Thanks for any info:thumbs:

Presuming that you're using Windows (Win7 to be exact)

Control Panel -> Autoplay

and change the settings in there

or if that doesn't work (Mac or PC) check yo don't have auto import enabled in LR itself (File->Autoimport)

autorun would have to be set on every drive to fire up LR, unless that has been done at some point :)

You're forgetting that you can set Autoplay by media type; ie Pictures - Import using Adobe Lightroom ...etc!!

i am indeed. i'll get back in my box.. :help:

(been a long day lol)

Nah - you're usually far more switched on than I am; I just happen to be planted in front of my PC at the moment!

By default LR over-rides Windows auto-play and starts up automagically.
It is REALLY irritating as LR used to pop open when I put my email-on-a-stick into the PC.
It is not a Windows problem, it is something fiendish those Adobe guys dreamt up after too much Red Bull.
You can fix it by changing a checkbox in the LR Import Options dialog.
This leaves the standard Windows auto-play prompt conforming to whatever standard Windows settings you are using; I didn't need to touch these to get things back to normal.

Yep, that sounds right to me.

If you start up LR and select EDIT, PREFERENCES and untick the box that says SHOW IMPORT DIALOGUE WHEN A MEMORY CARD IS DETECTED.

Click OK and Bob's yer Aunty!
