Why is it that when i crop a picture in lightroom 3 set to say 3x2 for example, then export it at say 8x12 it is never exactly sized at 8x12:shrug: it is always a very small margin off this size. I find myself having to open every picture up into CS from lightroom to set the image size, this takes quite a while over a batch of a few hundred images.

I am sure it is a setting somewhere that needs altering, but where:shrug:

Thanks:thumbs:

What are your export settings? I tend to do all my work in pixels... That is, if I'm at 300ppi and I want a 10" long edge, I'll resize so the long edge is 3000 pixels. In reality, the image size is a misnomer anyway - it's pixels and pixels per inch that matter.

I always use the width & height export settings to whatever size I want to export to, usually at 300 dpi, but image then is never the size I set it to be exported at. I know the size is not the be all & end all, but still bloody annoying to me:bang::lol:

So what do you set them to for the 8x12 image and what program are you using to tell you that they aren't the right size?

my money would be on the dpi setting, when you export out of LR3 are you setting a dpi?

edit - seems you are, try not setting a dpi (think you can do this in LR3, i dont have mine in front of me to check)

Mine would be on the export settings and what units using to resize to. I've just checked a couple of mine and the settings work out perfectly (export at 1280 pixels @ 240ppi = 5.333" which is what PS says).

There isn't a dpi setting when exporting from LR3?

However, if you meant ppi, then I agree with Neil's suggestion.
