Lightroom 3 question

When I open a raw file in LR3 it applies some default settings, ok, sometimes I'm not happy with these and I know they can be altered.
The question is, are these default settings removed when you export (a TIFF) out of LR3 for further editing elsewhere?

Whatever settings you apply will be implemented on the exported pic, the original however will remain untouched (but will display in lightroom with whatever settings you chose to use), unless you choose the same name/location and choose to overwrite the original. HTH.
