Lightroom 3 image numbering

My question is how do I re-number the images in Lightroom 3 to alter the order they are viewed so that they are ready for export in the correct order.
I used 2 cameras at different times of the day so they are all over the place. Hope this makes sense and not to rambling.

If you want to rename the images, I find it easiest to do this outside Lightroom. Stick all the images with jumbled up names into one folder and sort into order of capture time. Use the excellent free *Bulk Rename Utility* (Google it) to rename them into a consistent scheme, e.g. with an incremental suffix. Then import into Lightroom from there.

Alternatively you could just set Lightroom to display them in order of capture time, then there's no renaming necessary.

Ok lesson learnt, sync both cameras before going out for a days shoot.
Changed dates and times in metadata then sort by time capture.
