When I post process an image in Lightroom 3 then tweek in CS5 if I click 'Save' or 'Save As' it creates a saved image next to my DNG file with the title -- image number - Edit.
Why does it not update the DNG file to the newer version
Thanks
Dave

That's how lightroom works - it's not actually changing the original file at all, but saving the actions that you have applied to the image. When you do a Save As or Export it saves then image as a new file complete with all the edits that you have applied.

When Lightroom exports an image to Photoshop, Photoshop renders the DNG file and opens it as a TIFF or PSD depending on what you instructed it to do in Lightroom Preferences.

On saving it then savers it as a TIFF or JPEG using the file name plus the addition of Edit, plus the TIFF or PSD, extension. You could also save it as a JPEG but you would need to do this via Save As rather than simple Save

Thanks UKRaider and John for the info. so I will continue to Save as a Tiff.
cheers
Dave
