Lightroom 3 adjustment brushes

Am i doing something wrong here, When i use the adjustment brush for say clarity, when i brush it in nothing actually seems to happen, I get the red overlay to show my brush strokes but after clicking done there seems to be nothing happening and adjusting the sliders in the adjustment brush section has no effect whatsoever. Think i'm losing the plot here

The effect is applied as you brush. There is no sudden change change when you have finished. If you want to see the before and after effect then use the on/off switch at the bottom of the panel, left hand side of the Reset Close options.

Clarity effects mid range contrast and can be difficult to see on some subjects. In some cases it shows up as a density change on the dark areas.

Also best viewed a 100% to see the difference more clearly.

Clarity is an odd tool anyway, like John said it's only applied to certain tonal regions (mid or skin tones) so some images don't show any difference after using it.

Does it work if you use something more obvious like Exposure? You the on/off switch or the compare before/after functions to see the effect.

For some reason my adjustment brushes in LR2.2 didn't work properly either - it was one of the reasons I upgraded to LR3.
