Lightroom 3.6

I have just downloaded a free trial of Lightroom 3.6, after downloading 4.2 and then finding out it doesn't work on XP....oops

Anyway, i click the import button to import from my hard drive, the image comes up and then i don't get any options to play around with the image, just add them to a catalogue.

I thought there was basic image manipulation, and when i opened it up it says there is, but i don't know how to access this bit......Help me please
 
All i have the options of are:
Copy as DNG
Copy
Move
Add

Presume i am doing something really wrong here.

Things like file, edit the top drop downs are unavailable, however i can access them until i import an image.

Seems my current issue is that i am trying with images from the hard drive and not from the flash card (well that's what i put it down to).
 
You haven't got them into lightroom yet, your still in the import stage by the sound of it, theres a button to import (make sure they are all ticked) that should take you to the library option, theres some basic ajustments there, but if you click the develop tab at the top you'll have a lot more options.
Note after making your edits you have to export the images out of lightroom to have the jpegs or whatever format you need.
 
My problem was i was trying with images already on pc, just found it alot easier with images on a card. Play time later.

Yup, before you can work on an image you need to import it. For an image already on your PC just select it and choose the option to 'Add'.

Finding it out now. By the looks of it, i will be buying the full version, as liking it already. Shame i can only go 3.6 due to XP, but for anybody else thinking about it, have to say it's way easier that CS

My only gripe is PC is slow, so may have to upgrade some stuff.
