I have upgraded my Lightroom to 3.3 when I plug my D300 in with RAW pictures it won't show me a preview in Grid or Loupe mode. Anyone any ideas? Is it something to do with the program or the RAW file?

Nope - I made this mistake the other day.

When you do file import, on the import process box, top right corner there is an arrow (triangle) next to the number of photos on the card i.e. 58 photos.

If the arrow is pointing sideways, you have no preview. Click it and it'll point downwards and you have preview again.

I just tried that, I am getting a thumbnail tile but it says "Preview unavailable for this file" on the thumbnail itself. any ideas? Just tried with a jpeg as it shows a preview.. just not working with RAW

OK, I just copied the RAW files onto my computer, then went to import and they preview fine before import, so it must be a camera issue.. Any ideas?

Just a stab in the dark, are you trying to Add (from the options at the top centre) the files directly from your camera? As this would leave the file on your camera with LR being unable to save the sidecar file to this location. Use Copy or Move to fix.

Copying from the camera onto HD in lightroom

AH - worked out what it is.

You're doing this with the camera connected via USB. I always take my card out and put it in a card reader then I get the preview pics. I've just connected my 50D via USB and I get preview unavailable.

I did read something about purging the cache (edit, preferences, file hanndling, purge cache at the bottom) but it didn't make a change for me.

Just updating to 3.3 from 3.2 to see if that makes a difference.

Nope 3.3 still does it.

Use a card reader then seems to be the answer. Strange as lightroom 3 supports tethered shooting.

Have the same problem with a Canon 5D. Annoying...

upgrade (free) to 3.4 - that's the latest version

Wait for 3.4.1 there was issues with photoshop 6.4 (the same upgrade essentailly)

3.4.1 and 6.4.1 are available now - I have them installed.
