Yes
I have just had a go with LR 2021 on my laptop which has 8gb of ddr4 2666 ram.
Its a bit pedestrian when using the masking function.
Its OK on my desktop with 32gb of ddr4 2133 , I am thinking a memory upgrade is needed but I wonder if 16gb will be OK or should I go for broke and put 32gb in or is that overkill.
Any thoughts

Open up activity monitor on the machine with 32Gb and watch memory usage whilst working with LR.

If it tops out under 16Gb the no need to go higher on the laptop.

What. PU do you have in the laptop. While LR will certainly benefit from a bit more RAM I would imagine the masking it quite CPU intensive.

Just to thank you both for your input
To answer Ecoleman, the CPU in the desk top is a 6th gen i5 6500 and in the laptop 11th gen 15 11357.
And for SygZ the RAM usage in LR when masking maxes out at 9.3 gb , so 16gb will do the job and save me a few bob.
Thanks to both for your input

I am currently using MBP with 16GB RAM and it works smoothly.
But in long run you may want 32GB RAM.

I think what I will do instead of installing 2*8gb sticks and using both slots I will install 1*16gb and leave a slot free if is ever needed.

Memory works faster in pairs. You'll save money but defeat the object a little.
