Lightroom - 2 computers

Hi there,

I'm changing my workflow at the moment where i'll be importing weddings straight to lightroom on a Macbook, doing my picks and then i want to export the raws from my macbook, complete with the images that i have ranked to edit on lightroom on my imac.

My question is, what is the best and most efficiant way of doing this?

Probably the only sensible way to do this using LR alone is to export the selects as a catalogue from Macbook and then either open that catalogue or import it into a master catalogue on the iMac.

Depending where the pictures are located you may get away without moving them (if for example they are on a network drive).

However, the way I'd do it is to use Photo Mechanic on the laptop. Very quick to cull and rank and no need to import or render anything. Then import all but the rejects into LR. Do it right (there are lots of tutorials on the web about settings) and all the colours and rankings you set in PM will be right there in LR.
