Lightroom 2.1....

Thank yee for thee information.

I will download thee update and will let ya'know

Well I will be trying it as I have had lots of performance issues since installing lightroom 2.0

I have been using LR2 for a few days now, love it but it is much much slower than LR1

Aye, and unfortunately one of the things I was hoping would be sorted doesnt seem to be:

# We are still working on additional methods to improve the performance of the new Localized Correction features.

Me too Janice... LR2 is superb in every other respect apart from the fact that it has slowed to taking longer to move to the next pic than an IS lens to find it's IS...!! :D

and once i start photoshop too.... it keeps opening white boxes all over the place and freezing here and there. I will trying anything going.

You should try scanning 36 negs and then using the dust removal tool on them all individually :(

I love LR, and especially LR2, but seriously Janice this version is very slow on times and takes an eon to move from one pic to the next in Library or Develop modules.

I see no mention of speed or performance issues but I hope this latest version fixes some of these issues.

I thought it said tharrrrr were lots of performance issues... of things hanging etc (pretend I never wrote that last bit!!!
 )

Has anyone updated to this yet? I need a guinea pig to test it before I install it

Jim: It seems to be a considerable improvement on 2.0 although I am looking forward to seeing their tackling the local corrections part (which is excluded from this point update).

I am also interested to see the CS4 web cast next Tuesday to check out what they have in Photoshop and Bridge CS4...

Anthony.

Did you install it over the top of version 2.0, Anthony, or alongside?

Was just worried the serial no. wouldnt work on the new one.

On mine, on a Mac, 2.1 installed over 2.0 with no issues with serial number,

Bear in mind it's a Release Candidate, not actually a release. You are effectively beta testing it for them.

Just ran it straight over the top. On start-up it ran the new program options: serial number, trial, etc. I just entered the serial number and away it went, finding all my options and catalogue straight away. nothing missing at all.

To be honest, I think that's what we have been doing already with 2.0!

I have found with RC versions from Adobe in the past, there isn't much to worry about and anyway, there are 'revert to 2.0' instructions if anything does go wrong...

I can tell you not a lot, its mainly like a bug fix than a full release, I have been using it as part of their BETA / Approved Software Testing program, there has been a few diffrent incarnations of the BETA's out and the main difference in them was the progressing speed and stability.

You would have to make your own mind up to see if you think its worth the Buy / Upgrade.

I'll be checking out 2.1 as 2.0 has been running like a dog since I installed it. Speaking of which, has anyone successfully upgraded the RAW plug-in in PS CS3 to work with the LR2 'Edit In' function? I can't find it anywhere, via Adobe or otherwise.... :(

I was going to try LR2 this weekend but after reading this thread I don't think I'll bother. :shake:

Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks for the info on LR2 everyone, I'm with hacker here and am going to wait till it's issues are sorted. Going to stick with v1.4 for now as it does everything I need it to do and is stable.

I've had Lightroom 2 (upgrade version) for about 3 weeks now and haven't had any performance issues at all.

Maybe the program is a little slow to load, but everything else including the develop module seems pretty fast to me.

I've loaded the upgrade to 2.1 and as has been said above, just seems to fix the bugs it says it fixes, simple as...

I am using version 2.0 on a Macbook pro and a Mac Pro together with CS3. I have no speed issues, no white boxes, no delay in moving from picture to picture, in fact no problems at all!..... now where is the smillie for smug grin?

I think I'll wait until it is an official release if it isn't adding loads of new features. I'm interested to see if it will speed things up a bit, as was going to buy some extra ram for my laptop today, so may hold off until I've got this update...

To be fair, the only issues I have with speed are when using the localised correction tool, which you don't have in 1.4 anyways.

I had LR2 loaded on my PC. It slowed the whole thing down so much my computer was nigh on useless. Needless to say I had to delete it totally off the PC in the end. I'm sticking with CS3!

I wouldn't touch LR again due to this.

LR2 is pretty slow compared to 1.4 for me. I was hoping 2.1 would fix some of the speed issues, seems not. I get random "program is not responding" msgs from time to time on my dual core system and changing settings in develop can be painful. I've not been using the localised stuff at all (apart from clone/spot removal on the odd spot) :(
