Is it really worthwhile upgrading from Lightroom version 1.4.1 to Lighroom 2 ?
I have downloaded the Lightroom 2 trial version and the only thing I can see different/ useful is the ability to select and modify a specific part of the image. Is there other features that are different and is it really worthwhile to upgrade ? Views from Lightroom 2 users would be much appreciated.

Yup big improvement imo. The extra editing tool are incredibly useful, for me anyway, saves having to go back to photoshop for some bits and bobs. I can do all the processing in Lr2 where as I couldn't in Lr1. Also it seems a lot quicker, especially loading up catalogues etc.

I haven't experienced the extra speed yet as I have downloaded the trial version to my old computer which is connected to the internet and I find each action takes a while to register. Lightroom 1.4.1 is installed on a pc with a quadcore processor and it is pretty speedy. BTW what other extra editing tools are available in the 2 version ?

Local ajustment brushes.
Gradient ajustment tool.
Output sharpening.
Better normal sharpening with preview.
Pixel size limit raised to 30,000 (from 10,000)
Post crop vignette
Better auto correction.
Print module output to jpeg as well as print.
I'm sure theres other stuff as well, but I can't think of any more.

^ What he said... LR2 is miles better than LR1 - for loads of reasons.

Well I guess I'm gonna have to fork out for the new version then.
Thanks for all the input.

You won't regret it... I reckon it's worth it for the adjustment brushes alone!
