Ive been using studio strobes to do portraits recently, but am not too happy with the consistency of the lighting, if the subjects move or sit down, and I move the lights slightly...then when they stand up again or move the group slightly the lights are giving shadows that I didnt contemplate.......only to be noticed afterwards on the pc.

Would I be better off using permanent lighting so I can see whats happening?

I do have a modelling bulb for my strobe, is thats what it is for, to see where shadows would be?

Well, you'd be worse off Janice by the time you'd spent the dosh. (soz) :D
I'd prefer a non - flash setup for just the reasons you describe.
