At the risk of being a royal pain...
I have been trying to work things out and so far your good advice has resulted in me settling for a speedlite based set up rather than continuous light.
The below diagram probably says things in a better way than I can, though its not to scale.
The background area is approx' 1.7 meters across, the camera position approx, 2.5-3 meters away from it.
Lets put it this way 85mm on a canon crop gives me nice head and shoulders shots, 50mm waist up for standing subjects.
The plan is to use a pop up type background (with train when required) and suspend it from the wall covering the majority of the wall area there.
I planned on lighting the background with a Di622 on low power with a small softbox attached in order to get the impression of separation.
The main light will be an interfit strobies xs kit, 580ex on a ettl lead to the camera, with the idea of adding a second speedlite later and controlling all via an ST E2.
The 60" x 40" multi reflector can be used to bounce fill light back in to the shadows or with its black cover used to kill light for hard edged shots for now but a second small soft box is planned.
Most subjects will be seated.
What I would like to achieve is some nice portraits of individual family members and friends, mainly black and white.
I guess my question is am I on the right track with how I'm thinking and with what I'm trying to achieve?
I should say for those that don't know that I'm stuck in that bed 24/7 so I have to try and make use of any space around me rather than find a nice location and use available light as I used to.
